Jeff Leach, an archaeologist, and Randy Crochet, a mortgage broker, decided to open a pizza selling business in 2006. Leach, who was a natural health expert, convinced his friend Crochet to make a living by selling healthy pizzas to counter processed foods.
They spent $750,000 for 18 months in tests and research. At last, they opened their first store in New Orleans. The store was named World’s Healthiest Pizza. They produce crusts made of 12 whole grains, tomato sauce made without additives, and low-fat mozzarella cheese.
A marketing expert named Robbie Vitrano, suggested a change in name for marketing purposes. So Leach and Crochet decided to change the company’s name to Naked Pizza. They started re-writing the boxes and advertised the store on the net.
To franchise the store nationwide, the company was granted funding by the Mark Cuban Stimulus Plan. The move was to realize the goal of opening 1,000 stores in different locations across the US.
