Xsight did well in its flagship product, the FODetect®. FODetect® is an innovation for continuous monitoring in the surfaces of civil and military airports and for the detection of Foreign Object Debris (FOD). This innovation saved the aviation industry some $4 billion annually.
In June 2000, a Concorde crashed after hitting a strip of lying on the runway. That piece of metal fell from another aircraft just five minutes earlier. This led Xsight to work on FODetect®. In its development stage, the company had in mind the safety of passengers and aircrafts. In the end, the capacity of airports is increased and airport operations become more efficient.
FODetect® was evaluated by the US Federal Aviation Administration at Boston Logan International Airport. After the successful testing, FODetect® was fully compliant to FAA standards and was issued the Advisory Circular on Automatic FOD detection.
